Fitness fanatic cures crippling acne by quitting her six-a-day sandwich habit

A fitness fanatic cured her trust Shredding acne by kicking her SIX sandwich-a-day habit.

Sarah Hutchinson, 28, was devastated when her once-perfect skin became blotchy in March. The painful rash covered both cheeks and ran from her eyes to her neck.

Heartbroken Sarah stopped teaching fitness classes online after a participant commented on her face. The marks were so lumpy that the personal trainer couldn’t even hide them with makeup, leaving her feeling unsafe going out.

Sarah even dyed her hair blue to distract people from looking at her face. In desperation, Sarah tried a diet recommended to her online and her pimples started fading immediately, she said.

Sarah, who loves ham and mayo, gave up her six Sarnies a day and stopped adding sugar to her tea. She substituted them with brown carbs and alternative breads, which made for a less-satisfying butty, she explained.

But the results were amazing, she said, and her skin was clear again within six weeks. Sarah said: “I miss white bread so much but it’s totally worth it.

“It’s amazing to get my confidence back and feel good again. I was disturbed.

“My face was ruined. I felt like a monster.

“It tore me up. It was awful, like lumps in my skin with spots on it, and it hurt really, really bad, so it brought me to tears.

“It hurt when I touched it and when I put my face on my pillow so it was hard to rest. It brought me down very, very much.

Sarah, from Manchester, thought she was allergic to something when a couple of pimples turned into a full blown rash after just a week. A dermatologist diagnosed acne and three separate creams plus hydrotherapy didn’t help.

Sarah took to social media to talk about her issue and received a message on Instagram from a woman who explained that a low glycemic index diet cured her of pimples. Sarah started her new diet in late June and revealed her skin was spotless by mid-August.

Now, she says a few spots pop up when she tucks into a craved sandwich, pizza, or other refined carb favorite. Sarah, who trains six days a week and lives and works with her partner Charlotte Taundry, a nutritionist, said: “It was very, very bad.

“My confidence collapsed and I became very introverted. I felt like there was nothing I could do about it.

“I wondered how I was going to manage that for the rest of my life. I’m used to looking good – I take care of myself – but it was impossible to feel sexy with my face.

“I can only imagine that it was something hormonal. Diet is like a stabilizer – it avoids sugar spikes because they have such an effect on your hormones.

“People don’t realize how common acne is or that it can just appear, even into adulthood, in both men and women.”

Sarah says eating out is hard and she misses ketchup as much as she does regular bread.
