Iron Eyes’ parents have sought a court-enforced protection order against Miller, who they say met Tokata when they were 12 and Miller was 23.
Miller’s preoccupation with guns also became a source of alarm for her cohorts. In January, Miller expressed concern in an Instagram video about threatening a chapter of the Ku Klux Klan in North Carolina and urged his friends to lock Miller’s firearms in a safe.
Some people who know Miller allege that the actor uses allegations of transphobia as a shield against allegations of misconduct. “If someone upsets Ezra, they are transphobic or a transphobic Nazi,” Jumping Eagle said. A queer Miller associate said these were “clear cases of manipulation” and went on to ask, “Are you really queer? Or is this just a fun way to marginalize yourself to be even more crappy to others?”
Miller’s rep called those allegations “completely untrue,” adding that the actor “advocates civil rights and gender equality, encouraging conversation and discourse so that weaponizing identity contradicts why they are.”
Over the summer, criminal charges against Miller added up. They were charged with burglary in Vermont in August after stealing alcohol from an unoccupied home in May. That same month, Miller was charged with child endangerment after he allegedly housed a 25-year-old mother and her three young children on their property, which was riddled with guns and where frequent cannabis use affected the children’s father. Miller recently claimed the family hadn’t lived there in months. A Massachusetts family also issued a restraining order against Miller in June because the mother had become suspicious of her relationship with her 12-year-old non-binary child.
vanity fair notes that most of the actor’s current legal issues have disappeared. No charges were brought in Iceland. Although Miller paid a $500 fine in Hawaii after failing to contest a disorderly conduct charge, other allegations within the state were dropped.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. is reportedly considering replacing the actor in his current role as The Flash, or even canceling the upcoming Flash movie altogether.
Shortly after this news broke, Miller issued an “apology” for their “past behavior” and confirmed they had started mental health treatment.
“Having recently gone through a period of intense crisis, I now understand that I suffer from complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller said in a statement. “I would like to apologize to anyone I have alarmed and upset with my behavior in the past. I am committed to doing the work necessary to return me to a healthy, safe and productive phase in my life.”
